It was a little cloudy on Saturday 9th of May, but we had our open day and Nepal charity event at Harmony house. Due to other big festivals elsewhere, there were not many passers-by, however it was a relaxed and peaceful time spent with HI members, friends and some locals.
There was coffee from Silinge Village in Nepal to taste for the adults and prayer flags to design for children, both making us all more aware of the tragedy in Nepal. The proceeds from both as well as donations from each stall and cafe went to a small organisation called "Neparupa" supporting a fair trading from Nepal.
We decorated the trees outside of Harmony house with the prayer flags designed by HI students with prayers and hope that thing will get better soon in Nepal.
Everyone also enjoyed the market full of children's clothes and costumes, art books, glasses and general goods. The international cafe run by HI staff offered Pakistani curry, Czech pancakes and African dessert. Some had fun doing Music together and experiencing flower arranging which was very timely, some were able to take the flowers home for Mother's day.
It was a small and intimate event and we hope to make it a monthly thing with the boot sale/market. So come and join us! Details will follow!
Thank you to HI staff, store leaders, workshop leaders and for all your generous donations!
